Cloud Automation Engineer

Atlas Tech, a rapidly expanding company supporting the US Military and other Government entities, is seeking a passionate, flexible, committed team player to join our group of highly motivated professionals. Atlas Tech is seeking a Cloud Automation Engineer for an effort to provide systems engineering, software development, and integration of Naval software systems.

Pay Band: $90,000 - $125,000 based on experience.

You Will:

  • Create, modify, and automate tests across all CANES baselines to run via a central orchestration layer in the NIWC LANT lab
  • Create a defined set of processes and tools to use across engineering and cyber security
  • Create a Jenkins/Orchestration container that can be deployed to the lab to install, config, and run tests against all SW baselines
  • Produce test reports and hardware configuration artifacts to be ingested by the individual testing teams to incorporate into the sustainment process
  • Provide knowledge in systems engineering and information technology
  • Develop solutions to solve problems and implement enhancements
  • Investigate and resolve issues that span multiple applications/technologies and require involvement from technical personnel across multiple groups
  • Develop and/or revise system designs and architectures to improve efficiency, stability, effectiveness, supportability, and sustainability
  • Provide feedback on internal processes and recommendations for improvement
  • Provide technical analysis integral to the maintenance and sustainment of DoD systems
  • Provide in-depth research and analysis of issues and new technologies
  • Prepare technical briefs to present to engineering review teams
  • Provide Tier 3 support and solution engineering for fielded systems
  • Proactively monitor and assess enterprise health
  • Develop Ansible roles and playbooks for automation
  • Review pull requests submitted by various teams for logical or syntax issues
  • Facilitate coding standards
  • Provide support resolving merge conflicts
  • Install test branches on physical hardware on lab equipment as first level integration tests
  • Verify install documentation is executable
  • Improve automation framework

You Have:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • A minimum of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level Security Clearance or be able to obtain an interim security clearance prior to hire date
  • DoD 8570 Certifications to be qualified as an Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II
  • Experience with containers and CI/CD pipelines are highly desired
  • Experienced with creating/executing roles and playbooks
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerShell as it is heavily leveraged to automate installation, configuration, hardening, and maintenance tasks
  • Experience with other programming/scripting languages
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux system development, integration, and testing
  • Experience with AWS EC2 and S3 building virtual instances and utilizing cloud storage
  • Experience with Ansible and Terraform
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps
  • Experience with Git, familiarity with Bitbucket, Confluence and Jira
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively install, configure, and administer in a multi-system and/or multi-application environment
  • Working knowledge and experience of System Engineering processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of Linux/Windows OS and networking from a system design perspective
  • Ability to create and test virtualized environments (VMWare, Hyper-V, AWS) for development and testing procedures that are traceable to system requirements
  • Strong documentation and oral communication skills to clearly communicate with all levels of users, engineers, managers, and organizations
  • Ability to work with others in a highly collaborative environment
  • Self-Motivated, strong work ethic and commitment to quality
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple goals and priorities
  • 5+ years of hands on relevant technical experience


We’d be Impressed if You Had:

  • A Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or other engineering
  • RedHat certification (i.e. RHCSA, RHCE, etc.)
  • Experience with Ansible automation design and development
  • Experience with Python, Java Script, React.js, C/C++, and Bash
  • Experience with Linux administration and BASH scripting
  • Experience with RedHat Satellite development, integration, and test
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker/Podman)
  • Experience with VMWare virtual infrastructure
  • Experience with Full-stack software development (i.e. Java, .NET, JavaScript, SQL)
  • Knowledgeable in best cybersecurity practices (STIGs) and using industry standard tools (ACAS, Nessus) to perform vulnerability analysis and mitigations
  • Knowledgeable with integrated development environment (IDE, Visual Studio Code) for GIT management and code revision
