Communications Engineering Technician

We currently have an opening for a Communications Engineering Technician in Patuxent River, MD.

Engineering Technician Atlas Technologies, a rapidly-expanding company supporting the US Military and other Government entities, is seeking a passionate, flexible, highly-motivated team player to join our growing company of information technology professionals.

The Engineering Technician will support of the TacMobile program of the Space and Naval Warfare Center (SPAWAR) Atlantic in PAX River, MD area.  We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Communication Engineering Technicians to act as the MES Subsystem Technical Lead support, supporting P-8A aircraft defined changes for TacMobile COMM upgrades.

Essential duties, functions and areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide MES Subsystem Technical Lead support to Build, Integrate and testing, engineering, verification and, validation of subsystem improvements in support of P-8A aircraft defined changes for TacMobile COMM upgrades.
  • Provide MES subsystem technical efforts to document Change Requests, updates to subsystem documents i.e. IRD, IDP, SOVT, FIT, PITCO, FRCB process, Clear Quests documented defects and Change Request are kept up to date, documented test reports, Analysis of Alternatives, Recommended COAs
  •  Provide MES subsystem technical support for planned P8A capabilities to align the TOC/MTOC's to the aircraft IOC 
  • Provide MES technical support for In Service Engineering of the current MES related subsystems i.e. HFIP, Link-11, Link-16, UHF voice, SAT voice, HF, voice, Image Communications Equipment (ICE) Imagery, TCDL, ROVER, GBS, SHF, MT32, RMSA-2300, HF ACAS and HF Data circuits 

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret Level Security Clearance
  • 6 years’ experience with COMM related sub systems to include SHF, UHF, EHF and HF. 
  • Technical knowledge in building, integrating and testing the COMM sub systems mentioned above 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in preparing TacMobile related Installation Requirement Drawings (IRD) packages, Operations and Maintenance Manuals and users manuals 
  • Must be detailed oriented, be able to follow written procedures and provide timely feedback to the IPT Lead in order to meet program schedules. 
  • Must be able to travel up to 30%.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, OR four (4) year electronics apprentice program
  • Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
  • Eight (8) years of practical experience, to include: Electronics Repair, Maintenance, Installation and Checkout. 
  • Two (2) years of experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices. 
  • Three (3) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair and installation
